    Baptist Camps for Teens

    Monday, February 13th, 2012

Teens and their families nowadays usually face lots of problems in this high-pressure world.  It is now so common to hear about teens making poor decisions, choosing the wrong friends, and becoming increasingly attracted to destructive behaviors.  These are just few indicators that they are in some trouble.  When left unattended, there is a great tendency that these teenagers will add to the statistics of juvenile delinquent.

Parents always struggle to look for excellent treatment options in order to keep their kids on the right path.  Some children, especially teenagers, often refuse to submit themselves for therapy for they are embarrassed from their friends and fellow teenagers.  It often ends in a failure because of their unwillingness to cooperate.  Among the treatment options, baptist camp becomes a medium for redirecting unmotivated and troubled teenagers in a more subtle way.

Baptist families believe that religion is a very important part of the lives.  Parents often try to ensure that their kids will be brought believing in the Word of God as well.  When they are faced with a troubled child, they do what they can to help.  When therapy fails, they move to them to baptist camp.  The camp offers alternative solutions for troubled children who are rejecting their religious traditions and rebelling against their parents.

The independent baptist camp is considered as good alternative to boarding schools, boot camps and drug rehab centers to deal with behavior problems.  At times, children tend to rebel more if they are sent to the said institutions.  In a baptist camp, the aim is to restore the troubled teen to particular life of power and purpose.  The camp gives professional counseling and biblically based coping skills programs.  The programs are designed to provide the disciple and structure teenagers’ need in a harmonious home environment.  Moreover, they encourage teenagers to follow scriptural solutions for their problems.  They lead them to a life with God as the center.

In addition to behavior modification, baptist camps deal with key aspects of the youth’s life as well which include social, emotional, physical and educational.  Camp programs are normally available for adolescents and teens that are between the ages of 8-12 and 12-18, respectively.

In some camps, programs that deal with mild mood disorders such as anxiety, depression and attention deficit disorder are provided.  The camps follow a comprehensive, holistic approach to these problems from a distinctly God centered focus.  Baptist camp programs are also designed to help deal with drug or alcohol abuse and legal problems for troubled teen.

Not all baptist camps deal with troubled teenagers.  Camps are also organized, especially during summer and holiday breaks, to foster good relationship among baptist kids and teens.  Through these camps, circle of friends and core groups are formed who become their support systems in dealing with the challenges of life as a teenager.
